After an economic downturn in the 1960s, buildings in the midtown Los Angeles area became accessible to new small business owners and entrepreneurs. This allowed Hi Duk Lee to open the Olympic Market at 3122 West Olympic, which manifested itself into a gateway for a new Koreatown in Los Angeles. The prevalence of Korean markets, restaurants, and shops induced further migration of Koreans to that area. Today, Koreatown is the most densely populated neighborhood in Los Angeles County, and encompasses a diverse community of various ethnic backgrounds. This picture was taken at Seoul International Park: a vibrant park and recreational area dedicated to the citizens of Koreatown. The Korean Festival is hosted here each year in the fall.
